Answers To Common Questions About Graduate Credits

Q: How do I apply for graduate credit?
A: Approximately two (2) weeks after your course begins, your facilitator will notify you by e-mail of your graduate credit opportunities and specific instructions on how to apply. You will be responsible for registering and paying for the graduate credit.

Q: How much graduate credit can I receive for each AETN PBS TeacherLine course?
A: Please refer to the course syllabus to determine the amount of professional development hours for your course. Then use the calculations below to determine the following hours of course time:

  • Fifteen (15) hours = 1 Credit Hour
  • Thirty Hours (30) = 2 Credit Hours
  • Forty-Five hours (45) = 3 Credit Hours

Q: Who is the local graduate credit provider?
A: The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Arkansas currently offers graduate credit for some PBS TeacherLine courses. Please contact the University of Arkansas Global Campus for application and payment information at (800) 952-1165 or visit the Global Campus website at http://www.globalcampus.uark.edu/pbs/.

Q: Who are the national graduate credit providers?
A: Indiana University at Bloomington or Adams State College in Colorado are the two national graduate credit providers. You can use the calculations above to determine professional development hours. When you register for a course through the Arkansas IDEAS Portal, you can simply click View Details under a course listing and look under Credits.

Q: Do I have to pay additional money for graduate credit?
A: Yes. You will have to pay a graduate credit fee directly to your choice institution. You must pay at the time you register for your graduate credit. A major credit card is recommended for payment.
